To manufacture products is to commit to people and the environment to ensure a better world. This is vertisol’s clear manifesto: we are manufacturers of the future. How? By helping to combat climate change by embracing sustainability, committed to people and the environment, based on responsible production processes and high quality raw materials.
Sustainable Manufacturing Processes in vertisol
The use of renewable energies and the implementation of processes to reduce consumption is essential. At vertisol we are taking an important step with the installation of more than 600 solar panels at our plants in Moraña and Granollers. An initiative that allows us to avoid the emission of 105 tons of CO2 into the atmosphere annually. In other words, we have planted nearly 14,000 trees and saved nearly 44 tons of oil. The electric self-consumption system allows us to contribute to the energy transition and the fight against climate change. The Galician company specialized in self-consumption and industrial energy efficiency, EiDF Solar, has been responsible for the installation in both plants.
One of the problems faced by the textile industry is that it is one of the industries that consumes the most water. Aware of this problem, at vertisol we implement measures to reduce water consumption in the manufacturing processes. We have a closed-circuit cooling system for the manufacture of our yarn. This process allows us to reduce water consumption by practically 100%. Water scarcity and poor management of water resources have become one of the main concerns in Spain. That is why we are committed to reducing our water consumption by implementing practices that allow sustainable management of this resource.
In-House Production and Carbon Footprint Reduction
At vertisol we vertically integrate the design, manufacturing and marketing processes. 100% in-house production allows us to significantly reduce our carbon footprint. In addition, it is the only way to ensure that the manufacturing processes are responsible and the raw materials used comply with strict European standards on the use of chemicals.
Circular Economy and Green Production
Our commitment to sustainability does not stop at production and distribution. We also focus on the circular economy, always seeking to reuse and recycle materials to minimize waste. At vertisol, we use a high percentage of recycled materials in our production, preventing these perfectly good materials from being discarded and giving them a new life in our products. The latest development is our designer rugs, where 50% of the material we use is recycled fabric. This way we prevent perfectly good yarns from being discarded and give them a new life.
